Solutions to the Problem "Failed to connect with windows server "comes up when I turn my Windows 7 computer on.

Hi Annerose,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forums.

From the issue description, I understand that you receive a pop-up saying, "Failed to connect with windows server” when you turn on Windows 7 computer.
I will certainly help you on this issue.

I would really appreciate if you can help me with the following information.

1.      Did you make any changes on the computer prior to this issue?
2.      Are you facing any issues with internet connectivity?

This issue may occur due to many reasons, to rectify this issue we will boot the computer in safe mode and check.
If the issue does not persist in safe mode, then perform clean boot and check whether the issue
resolves.

Step 1
Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers.
Startup programs do not run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.
Please click on the mentioned link below.
http://Windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2
Put the computer in Clean Boot state to see if there is any software conflict, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

Note: After clean boot troubleshooting step, refer to “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot” from the article.

Get back to us with more information for further assistance.

Nothing has changed on my system.  I cannot even watch live TV without this warning popping up.

Also recenly recorded shows are now being marked to 'expire' within a couple days of recording them...
it won't even let me watch them before expiring.

If it is some update that is causing the problem you could try using System Restore to go back to before the problem and see if it clears the fault.  If it does not you can "undo" the restore and return to the present.  If it did fix the problem then you might
have to reinstall updates one at the time with checking for functionality after each update.

"Could not reconnect all network drives" Win7, problem on only 1 system.

I recently upgraded my computer including a new motherboard and processor.
I am working with a fresh installation of Windows 7 64bit, and have a Linux samba server in my home, with mapped network drives to the server.

On my new installation, on every startup, I get an error that Windows "Could not reconnect all network drives".
Mapped drives show up as disconnected, but connect immediately when I open them.

I found a lot of info on this problem, with most pointing to server problems, however I know that I do not have any server issues.

Here is what I know:

- My server has no permissions needed, nothing requires a username or password
- I have 3 other Windows 7 machines in the house, none have this problem
- Systems are wired on gigabit ethernet, and use static IP addresses
- Windows is 100% up to date
- I tried using a PCI network card that does not exhibit this problem in another system and have the same issue.
- I re installed Windows a 2nd time, and the problem persists.

This seems to be a somewhat common issue in Windows.
I need a workaround, as I point a lot on my system to the server.

Thanks
